It's the 3rd Saturday of the month again, which means it's another round of medication brown bagging at Lor Liew Lian by iRx Clinical Pharmacy and PanCare Medical Clinic.
Today is the day where we have an epic medication reconciliation horror story. We received a bagful of medications to be reconciled, only to find that all of them have expired. The number of years the medications have past expiry was more than the total age of my children combined! I'm really pleased that our outreach initiative provided an avenue for residents to seek help for their medications-related and medical problems.
We also received our second batch of student volunteers from Republic Polytechnic today. It was really nice to see some who came back to volunteer again after the first round last month. We went over the basics of blood pressure measurement, especially for the students who are here for the first time, as well as simple interpretation of what the numbers meant. They also did very well in inviting residents to come join us at this event. We hope this will increase their confidence in interacting with the elderly when they soon step into the workforce.
We are also very very blessed to have 3 pharmacists volunteers with us, Ms Yee Yin (whose photo I didn't take again, I'm sorry), Mr Chia Ming Tjong and Mr Jonathan Wong. Of course, all would not be possible if not for Ms Carolynne Ng’s and Braddell Heights Zone B's close partnership. Thank you everyone for your time and help at this event. It had been a lovely afternoon with the residents, students, fellow pharmacists, Ms Carolynne and our dear clinic assistants.
